Home of the One-Hour Recital!

Adair Dance Academy has a simple philosophy about its recitals…give students an enjoyable, educational performance opportunity that will enhance their skills and focus on their training and experience.

ADA recitals are high quality, rather than high cost. We keep the stress level low so that parents and students can truly enjoy the recital experience.

Rehearsals are organized and move quickly so that students do not spend hours waiting for their time to rehearse. Performances are age appropriate; costumes are modest, reasonably priced, and practical; and music selections are family oriented without offensive or inappropriate lyrics.

Performance dates and times will be released as they are scheduled. Please refer to cast assignments (included with this info) to determine which show(s) you will be performing. Each show will run approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. Photography and video is only allowed during dress rehearsal and will be strictly prohibited during performances.

Dress rehearsals will run nightly the week of the show. A detailed schedule is will be emailed and posted at the studio. Dress rehearsal requires full costumes, shoes, accessories, make-up with hair pulled back appropriately. No regular classes will meet this week, dress rehearsals only. Bathrooms are available for changing, please be prepared and prompt! Please note that end times are approximate and everyone is expected to stay until your class is finished. B!ring a snack, water bottle and all needed supplies.

CREIGHTON LIED CENTER FOR THE ARTS, 24th & Cass (Just a few blocks north of Joslyn Art Museum on the Creighton Campus). Allow ample time to locate the theater and park your vehicle. Dress rehearsals and performances are held at the theater. Please Mapquest or make a dry run before your appointed rehearsal day if you are new to the theater.

Grade IV, V and VI dancers must attend a mandatory warm up class before each day’s first performance. Everyone needs to be warmed up properly to prevent injury and prepare. Please bring dance attire. Costumes are not allowed for the warm-up class. Arrive at 1:30 and warm up is at 2:00 p.m. each day.

Pre-ballet, Primary, Grade I, II and III, is required to arrive 30 minutes ahead of their performance to check in and prepare. No one is allowed to watch from the wings, as it causes too much congestion backstage. All students and room helpers should plan to stay backstage until the performance is completely over. No students are allowed to sit in the audience before or after they have performed. Seating is limited and it is disruptive to the patrons to have performers moving about.

Costumes will be distributed in late April before photo day. Please check to see that all the pieces are there and you understand the instructions. Should you wear any costumes to or from the theater or to photo day, please cover them up with other clothing, as it is unprofessional to show costumes outside of performance and you risk damaging the costume. Also bring with you: hair supplies, make-up, safety pins, a nice change of clothes for afterwards, no jeans, t-shirts etc. please, and anything else you may need.

Please have your hair and make up done at home ahead of time. Younger students need only to wear some lipstick and a small amount of blush. Hair must be pulled neatly back in a bun or styled as requested by your teacher. Test your hairstyles the last few weeks of classes to make sure they will stay secure. Pre-ballet, Primary, grades I, II & III level students can wear comfortable clothes to the theater, over their costume and bring a change of nice clothes for after the performance. Grade IV, V, & VI should bring warm up attire and not use any costumes for warm up class. No eating or drinking in costume please! In the event that costumes are backordered, we reserve the right to reschedule your child’s class photos. This is rare, but always a possibility and we appreciate your understanding.

All accounts must be paid in full before tickets or costumes are distributed. If you have questions about your account call 551-4200 or email us at Payments may be mailed to 1006 N 127 Cir, Omaha, NE 68154 or turned in to your teacher when you come to the studio for classes.

Each enrolled student receives one free DVD by Moran Recordings. Additional recordings are also available for purchase for $20. If you are interested in an additional DVD, please talk to Mrs. Adair. Photography and videography during performances are strictly prohibited. Grade II – V students performing in multiple performances will receive a performance DVD of one of the performances (usually the last performance) unless a specific one is requested. Please let your teacher know if there is a specific performance you want. Parents may video or photograph their child’s dances at dress rehearsal only.

Room helpers, flower sellers, ushers, box office personnel, and runners are needed. Younger classes will need a parent from that class who is familiar to the students to assist backstage. These volunteers will be able to see their child’s individual dance(s) from the wings. Please remember your help is appreciated and this is one of the rare times we ask for parent volunteers. Thank you!

We are looking forward to performances and we hope you are too! As always, please visit with your teacher, email or call us at 551-4200 if you have any questions.

Thank you for your patronage!
